After two days back in the cockpit, two things are clear - Formula One has missed Kimi Raikkonen and Kimi Raikkonen has missed Formula One. Yes, the niggles which drove him to rallying two years ago are still there, but - for now - the 2012-spec ‘Iceman’ seems suitably chilled. Formula 1's driver market merry-go-round burst into life this week when Jenson Button made the shock switch from Brawn GP to McLaren for 2010. One of the consequences of that move is that it appears to have forced Kimi Raikkonen to take a sabbatical from grand prix racing - although there are rumours now he could take the seat vacated by the world champion.

With speculation linking Raikkonen with moves to the World Rally Championship or Le Mans, AUTOSPORT caught up with Raikkonen's manager Steve Robertson in Macau to find out what the situation was now that Button's future plans had been decided.

Q. Are you happy with that result?

Kimi Raikkonen: I mean it is fourth place. It is not much to be happy about, but what we have we need to be happy that we finished even fourth.

Kimi Raikkonen believes he can score a podium for Ferrari in the European Grand Prix at Valencia this weekend.

Speaking to the press after ending Friday's free practice the 2007 world champion said that he was happy with the car and the progress he had made during the two 90-minute sessions. AUTOSPORT was there to hear what he had to say.

When Kimi Raikkonen met the press at the Nurburgring before this weekend's German Grand Prix, talk of the current Formula 1 situation and Ferrari's prospects was soon put aside in favour of probing the significance of his entry into the Rally Finland - and whether that meant he was poised to switch from F1 to the World Rally Championship.
